Our Story

Richmond Youth Football League, est. 1965

The Richmond Youth Football League adopted the name Richmond Falcons in 1971. In 1975, the city lost it’s charter status forcing the team to practice and play in Crockett, California. They would bus players from Richmond to Crockett daily for practice.

In 1978, the rules changed and the team was allowed to return to Richmond to practice and play. In the same year, the team adopted a new name - the Richmond Steelers. The community based program was committed to providing mentoring, leadership training, guidance, structure, direction, and discipline to the youth of Richmond.

50+ years later, we still pride ourselves on being a pillar in our community, and a safe place for our boys and girls to learn and grow.
